Album Notes

Prentiss is a singer/songwriter and worship leader in Iowa La. He spent seven years in Nashville learning
the craft of songwriting. He played many writers nights around town, including an ASCAP showcase at the “Bluebird Café” with B.W. Stevenson and Garth Brooks. Soon after he was signed to a staff writing deal with Paul Overstreet’s publishing company.

While working at the company he learned many things about songwriting and the music business, as well as, having the opportunity to meet and write with other writers. Many who have gone on to find success.

He has written songs with Terri Clark, Paul, and many others . His first cut was a song he wrote titled “Ol Gideon Bible”. When the song began to get national attention , God began to show him that these were the kind of songs that would become his style of writing.

The “Dash” is a CD of thirteen original songs with a Christian/Americana flavor. The lyrics are heartfelt and the melodies memorable. The song “The Dash” was written about the Virginia Tech. tragedy, but relates to anyone who has lost someone too soon. “Dying to Know Us” is the story of Jesus and the cross written in a fresh way. “What’s So bad About Jesus?” is a country rock , tongue-in-cheek little ditty, that will bring a smile to your face. “The Kindness of Strangers” is about hurricane Katrina, and the story of Freddie, a truck driver he met from New Orleans while working at a relief center.

Prentiss has a smooth vocal delivery like Don Williams, and lyrically is more like Guy Clark or Rodney Crowell, but with a Christian theme. This would be a great CD to add to your collection if you enjoy these types of artists.

The Dash was produced in Nashville by Don King at “The Cypress Room “ with some great sessions players , and arrangements.

Prentiss is currently writing songs for his next project and leading worship at his home church. He can be reached at www.prentissmiller.com. Or Prentiss@centurytel.net.
