Compiled and released by Preservation Records, this environmental benefit CD helps Bloomington's local chapter of the National Audubon Society - the Sassafras Audubon Society - as well as helping spread quality local music to people that crave innovative and original music.

Bloomington - home to the world acclaimed Indiana University Music School - has long been the roots for some of the America's best music, including that of musicians like Hoagy Carmichael, Carrie Newcomer and John Cougar Mellencamp. Now 18 up-and-coming artists make the list as 2003's Best Music in Bloomington and win the prestige of being released on Preservation Records' newest album to date!

Amidst a landscape of rolling hills and deep red, autumn Maple trees, Bloomington, IN is a perfect location for a Preservation Records Project. Bloomington contains not only a thriving music scene, but also a hearty environmental community. Through increased environmental advocacy, a welcoming attitude and positive education, the Sassafras Audubon Society (SAS) is making a big difference in the Bloomington community. Now, teaming up with Preservation Records, SAS is finding the support of musicians and music lovers everywhere and actively making a more integrated community within Bloomington.

Truly, Project Bloomington is entirely a community effort. Recorded and manufactured using local businesses, benefiting a local Bloomington environmental organization and raising awareness for quality local music - this is truly a good cause to support! I saw the environmental thing, and that's really the reason I bought this CD. I was really blown away by the music though, there's some really killer stuff from this little Indiana town. This is a great CD if you like a lot of variety in your music. Really quality tracks in jazz and funk and folk and other stuff. I recommended it to a lot of my friends. Check it out.
