Hailing from “ America’s Finest City”, San Diego, CA, Presidio Brass is a dynamic force in American brass chamber music. With a unique and exciting repertoire written specifically for the ensemble, the Presidio Brass is committed to providing engaging musical programs as well as developing close ties to their audience. Presidio has concertized nationally, presenting formal recitals as well as educational outreach programs throughout the United States. Members of the ensemble have been seen with major symphony orchestras, including the London Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic; can be heard on soundtracks ranging from video games to major motion pictures; and have been educated at several of America’s finest institutions, including the Juilliard School, Boston Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music and USC. Presidio Brass was formed primarily to promote musical education and appreciation in the next generation. A little different

OK, I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to Christmas music played by brass choirs. PresidioBrass has a less mellow tone than the established ensembles like the Canadian Brass. You pays your money and you takes your choice. Not that these five guys cannot blow mellow, but their arrangements are different, a bit sharper here and there. Nothing dramatic. I like the mellow sound better, but PresidioBrass is a nice change from too much sameness during the last month of the year. Since these guys are from San Diego, you would expect them to play "White Christmas" with feeling. They do. The arrangement by John Large is distinctive.

Order extras! Last year, I gave these as gifts, after discovering Presidio Brass completely by accident here at cdbaby.com, and everyone loved them. As you can see and hear here, a nice variety of carols and songs of the season, both sacred and secular, are presented in arrangements that are both familiar and totally new. Beautiful playing, too.

These fellows recently played at our Community Concert and everyone just loved them. They stayed overnight and did an outreach program to HS students stressing the importance of education. What could be more important! Wonderful bunch of artists, fun, friendly and fabulous on their instruments.
