Album Notes

Blending a mixture of what they were raised on, Pressing Strings, are an amped up acoustic trio from Annapolis, MD. Influenced by a range of good music, and brought forth by the luck of life, they have been on the live trail since late 2006. Their first and latest release "Where We Are" features an honest expression of sound and lyrics born from the ocean and made for the road. The band formed when members Josh Kachura and Jordan Sokel shared a crowded beach house in the summer of 06'. They noticed a musical chemistry from the start and began writing and building material based on perspective and issues of real life, death, joy , and pain. They began gigging at the beach and eventually made their way back to Annapolis to continue collaborating. While searching for accompaniment they stumbled upon percussionist Bradford Singh tapping empty pint glasses in the audience at a West street pub. When asked about it, he responded "I have a drum in the car", and they have been playing together ever since. With unique renditions of classic material as well as their own, Pressing Strings creates a feel good live environment that is truly entertaining. Good for the mind/body/soul->> "Pressing Strings are an Annapolis-based acoustic trio that delivers a quintessentially fresh, sublime groove. (Think Dave Matthews Band, if G Love and Jack Johnson were writing their songs). The vocals are tight, the guitars open-chorded and jangly, and the percussion moves everything along with a smooth, head-bobbing cadence. Further, their musicianship is spot-on, creating soulful soundscapes while supporting vocals that are both warm and wandering."--- Rik Ferrell, What's Up? Magazine
