California-based PRESS is a mix between Classic Hard Rock, U.S. Power Metal and Heavy Alternative Rock. With strong melodies and dark progressive undertones, the band has a modernized sound that isn’t dated. The songs are a combination of slow and heavy crunchers and mid-tempo rockers with huge, classic metal riffs, and strong melodic vocals. The band features a fantastic lead singer by the name of Rob Bonstin, who completely raises the band’s sound to another level. Guitarist Terry Montana is a superbly skilled player and songwriter, and with a stronger marketing effort, this band could easily breakthrough in the European metal scene.
Songs like “Sunday” (lovely song, with very strong melodies), “FTM” and “Three” (pure metal monsters), showcase the band’s exceptional ability to diversify its sound. The closing track, “Winds of War”, is one of the best songs on the CD; a terrific up-tempo rocker that sounds a lot different than anything else on the disc. However, apart from that last track, which is pure Power Metal, fans of Nevermore will probably really like this band.

Very Good CD!!!

I saw these guys live at Lucasfilms Studios last year and they were great. I was as equally impressed by the size of the armadillos in their trousers as I was with the short set of songs they played (I think three or four). But with this CD I get all 11 tracks, and all of them are great, heavy rockers. Very modern sounding, but it's in no way nu-metal. The singer and guitarist are awesome. Highly recommended!

hard hitting set from bay area favorites
author: guitartomy
Press' debut cd is a strong set, featuring 11 heavy-alternative tracks. Every song is a winner here, folks. the drums & bass are strong and grooving; the guitars are big, no, HUGE, played with conviction and total command ; the vocals are precise and very melodic; the production is crisp, with no weak spots. My favorite tracks are Sunday (passing needles thru an open wound..), and Alone (dig the harmony guitar solo!) But, i have to say that all 11 cuts are top-notch.
This is, plain and simple, a killer performance of an excellent batch of songs.
