Album Notes

Preston Girard hails from the Kansas City area and produces alternative rock that ranges from disarmingly humorous to exceedingly dark. He began in 1997 by writing music to the poetry of his father, suspense novelist James Preston Girard. But influenced by the likes of R.E.M., Nirvana, Radiohead, Counting Crows, Lucinda Williams, The Beatles and John Prine, he began writing his own songs, tending to shift moodily from jangling pop to atmospheric rock. He released his first album, Simple Life, in 2002. In 2008, Preston released his second album, Along Chicago, which attempted to exorcise the demons of a young man's cathartic experiences while living in Chicago in the last part of the 20th Century. Preston's latest album, Harper Street, will be released in May 2011 and is a mix of new stuff and previously unreleased songs from his early writing days.
