Album Notes

Pretty Ugly began when four talented Musicians decided to develop their own musical style which has been influenced by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Common Rider, Operation Ivy, Filibuster, Lynard Skynard and Sublime. Drawing from life experience, their sound is a tight background introducing catchy, mellifluous vocals combining smooth bass lines hybridized with remarkable guitar licks. Thus creating a whole lot of goodness for all.

We digress. In the beginning there was two local Orlando bands, Westside Tree and Prophecy Collective. Westside Tree was formed when Scott, guitar, and Ryan, drums, met Benji, bass, in 2001. Shannon Denise, lead singer, had been singing with the electronica band Prophecy Collective for the last five years and was ready for a change. A year later, she joined Westside Tree and the band was reborn as Pretty Ugly.

For the next several months, Pretty Ugly began writing songs and jamming together. With over 10 songs and a pressed demo, the band began playing out in the summer of 2003 in such venues as House of Blues Orlando, Masquerade in Ybor, Jack Rabbit's in Jacksonville, Will's Pub, The Social, CJ's, Trapper Keeper, Bodhisattva, Slingapour's, Maui Jack's, Liquid Cellar and many more. They've also had opportunities to play national gigs with the bands Bargain Music and Long Beach Short Bus.

They continue to write and develop music that they love to share. This summer, they plan on going back into the recording studio. Though their future is forever changing, they are always working to bring the music to their fans.
