The unusual group Primero Mi Tia achieves to articulate in a solid sound the folkloric music from the coasts of Colombia and the frenzy of free improvised music. Initially a quintet(drums, percussion, double bass, guitar y saxophone), its first recording was one of the 10 best recordings according to Semana magazine, the renowned Colombian publication. Right now the group is formed by Marco Fajardo (clarinet); Javier Morales (accordion); Juan David Castaño (marimba de chonta and percussion); Alejandro Forero (electric guitar); Juan Manuel Toro (double bass) y Jorge Sepúlveda (drums). Without fear to take the traditional music to its furthest possibilities, the intention of this group is to experiment with the fusion of instruments and sonorities from diverse origins, a conscious but at the same time complex and risky mixture of styles, an universal view of the music that is in line with the urban contemporary culture.
"Pingueria", the second album of the group, was released in may 2007.
