Primordial Jazz Funktet plays soulful intense jazz that tells stories. Singer Maya Azucena joins the Funktet for half of these tunes, mostly written by pianist Dan Furman. "Merry-Go-Round" leads off the CD with a funky 7/4 feel. The band also reinterprets the lyrics to the classic "Summertime" and presents a new take on s a Stevie Wonder classic, "Visions."
