Album Notes

Prince Jabba was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica. He was first a drummer, at age 13, in a local gospel group called "Soul Seekers". At age 14, Jabba began spinning records on sound systems at local nightclubs throughout Jamaica. During his teenage years, Jabba realized he could carry a note and moved to Kingston after graduating from high school in 1988. Jabba was introduced to a dancehall DJ who encouraged him to become an entertainer. Jabba started writing dancehall lyrics but never performed until he came to the U.S. in 1992. Jabba's brother, Lynval Jackson, introduced him to the local Minneapolis Reggae music scene and is also on a single of Jabba's Loverman CD. By sharing the stage with such performers as Freddy McGregor and Super Cat, and recording Pink Cashmere with The Artist, Prince, Jabba began to establish himself as a talented performer with his own distinctive vocal style and sexually charged live dancehall performance. Throughout the years, Jabba has also performed with such artists as Shinehead, Tony Rebel, and Angelique Kidjo. Jabba recently recorded and performed the song "Horny" with Troy Hudson of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jabba's provocative energy, stage presence and captivating voice have reached out and established him as one of the Midwest's Hottest Entertainers.

Prince Jabba at UCLA Reggae Fest 2006

Prince Jabba was great on stage at the UCLA reggae fest this year. His performance was unscheduled and we understand that he was just filling in at the last moment for someone who couldn't make it! But what a great surprise he was. With his sexy swagger and his vocal aerobics . . this guy was in charge of the audience! Hope he'll be back again next year! UCLA sponsors . . . are you listening????

This is a very good CD. We listen to it regularly in my house. The production is top-notch, the background vocals are solid as is Jabba's unique voice. The loverman CD runs the spectrum from Dancehall to lovers rock to back to R&B. It features Jabba's distinct voice that reminds me of Freddie Mac Greggor and his powerful DJ style is similar to the master Toppa Zukie. It's versitile, original, yet familiar. Stand out tracks: #1 Many Are Called (Featuring his brother Lynval Jackson) #4 Come Back Home #11 English Pound (check out the spanish style guitar rifs!!)
