Album Notes

New York singer-songwriter KATHERINE PRITCHARD recently collaboratede with American musical icon PETE SEEGER on an entirely new arrangement of the classic song "Wimoweh." The new "Wimoweh" includes a new arrangement, lyrics and melody lines written by Seeger and Pritchard and superimposed onto the original song. Singing the lead vocal, Pritchard recently recording the new "Wimoweh" with the Clearwater Walkabout Chorus under the direction of Seeger.
Working with Seeger was a delightful departure for Pritchard whose original songs have been described as witty and poignant, dark and darkly funny, sensual and unequivocating.
Pritchard's complex lyrics and visceral singing style have evoked comparisons to Leonard Cohen, Peggy Lee and Diana Krall.
Pritchard has been performing at New York City's Apollo Theater, Friars Club, Don't Tell Mama, Cornelia Street Cafe, Fast Folk Cafe, Club Passim (in Boston) and other noted venues. Her music has been featured on WBAI, WNYE, WAMC and WDST in New York; and WGBH, WUMB and WMFO in Boston.
Pritchard wrote the theme song and sang the vocals for a TV pilot ("Say What?") which won an award at the 2004 Park City Film Music Festival.
Pritchard is a published write whose works have appeared in The Village Voice, McCall's, Seventeen, DC Comics, Archie Comics, HART Magazine, and Film Music Network Magazine.
