Probir Banerjee received initial training in vocal music from his father, late Paresh Banerjee - a noted actor and singer of the late 1940's Bengali & Hindi Screens.
He later learnt thumri (light classical) from Pt. Bhola Nath Bhatt of Allahabad and Nazrul Geeti from Smt. Angurbala Devi.
Probir performs regularly on stage and has performed extensively in India, Toronto, & Hong Kong.
His repertoire includes Nazrul Geeti, Shyama Sangeet, Bangla Adhunik, Dadra, Thumri, Ghazal, Geet & Bhajan, all of which he renders with an unique blend of light classical elements.
