The Prodigals are one of the most successful bands to emerge from the East-Coast Irish scene. The band members grew up largely in Ireland; their original songs blend a funky and anarchic energy that is pure New York with a genuine passion for the traditional music of Ireland.
The Prodigals have played throughout the United States, from Los Angeles and Las Vegas to Chicago, Boston and Maine, as well as abroad in Canada, Germany and Ireland, but they remain firmly rooted in Manhattan.
"Bass player Andrew Harkin has received great acclaim for his musicianship, which is the best I have heard since Geddy Lee and Les Claypool. Gregory Grene's original songs stay true to the style and tone of old, yet speak to modern life, in some of the most well-crafted and poetic verses I have seen." - Punchline
"Grene's expertise on accordion and his understanding of Irish music elevates the group as one of the premier Celtic rock bands leading into the 21st century." - All Music Guide (AMG)
"What the Ramones might have sounded like if they'd taken traditional Irish music as their starting point" - Pulse Magazine
"wholly inspirational" - Rock'n'Reel
Voted "#1 Irish Band" in the Irish Echo Readers' Poll, topping U2, Van
Morrison, Sinead O'Connor and more.

No one can make a song of grief sound more upbeat than the Irish - the Prodigals
author: Troubette
From the opening song, I was tapping my feet and singing along - despite the sadness of some of the lyrics, I felt great - that's a gift straight from the Emerald Isle! Switching up the singers on every other track takes a bit getting used to but both voices are remarkable. I was touched by the beauty of the last song about birth and death and the moment when we realize how our parents felt about us and the dreams we now have for our children. Gorgeous!
