Album Notes

Progtronic (a.k.a. Rick Richards) has been composing and recording since 1979, releasing his first project CD, \"SimItar - Subliminal Self\", in 1989 on Inertia Records.

In 1992 he won Keyboard Magazine\'s, Keyboard Reader Soundpage Contest, with his track \"Aliens Among Us\".

Became an \"Internet Artist\" on mp3.com around 1998 and began releasing CD\'s based on the material he had recorded, the previous eight years (under many different project names), since his first official CD release. He compiled and released ten more CD\'s, based on those recordings, the following four years.

Progtronic is Rick\'s latest project featuring his unique blend of progressive, electronic rock.

Beware..... Intelligent music alert !!!

I had the advantage of zero expectations for this album, as I had been lent the CD to 'take home for the weekend' (which means putting it on my MP3 player, and living with it for a while). It wasn't necessary. A quick 'flick' through the tracks was enough to convince me that this instrumental rock of the highest quality. Intelligent music indeed, that should appeal to fans of Prog (Yes), metal (Dream Theater), instrumental (Jeff Beck), and more. It's well worth the price, even though I can't comment on the free CD with all the back catalogue on it, as I haven't got round to loading that stuff on yet. Value For Money (with capital letters). I hadn't heard of Progtronic before, nor had I heard of CDbaby. I'm now a fan both (my second order has been successfully received).

Absolutely bloody marvellous

I had heard and enjoyed some samples of the artiste's work and got into a chat with him on a music forum where he told me he had a new album out. I liked his samples, so it made sense to buy the album. Twice (bought one for a friend). The music's right up my street and is written, composed, and performed, very intelligently with nods to musicians who have gone before but also with new and exciting adds and thoughts of his own. BUT, as if this were not enough, Evolve comes complete with Rick's entire back catalogue as well!. Another THIRTEEN albums, all compressed into iTunes and Quickplayer format! AND then even more songs, that should be on an album in their own right. I like bands; I've never been able to enjoy music made purely by a keyboard player before, but the way this guy puts percussion, guitar, and synths, together is like no other. If the words 'progressive', 'rock', and 'electronica', mean anything to you, you will enjoy this music. You might also be amazed to learn that every sound you hear is synthesized. Don't miss out. Buy your ears an early/late birthday present. AND I received mine in under a week, from CD Baby, and I live on the other side of the Atlantic! When's the next release???????? :-B
