notes

In about 1997, Jared Bryant left Salford University of Electronic Engineering, to develop professional, technological skills in Music Therapy.
Project Blubook was born from the marriage of man and machine, originally more 'movement' based, the compositions developed into familiar 'arrangements'.
Severn Valley Soul is an on-going project, that bore 'Edgeway' to the world, recruiting the finest percussionists, keyboard players, vocalists, etc. the 'Black Country' has to offer.
With Lucy Gill supplying gospel-driven vocals, Dan Gauden providing slinky, soul-laden guitars, Colin Edmonds playing tight, rythmic congas and Jared Bryant producing a wall of dreamy, organic keys, it's a clever combination of classic sounds in a modern format...

  • Complete Genius..What Else Can U Say?
    author: Friendly Fire

Talent, genius and expertise in their chosen field..this album contains so many important songs, in so many genres, the audience may not know where to categorize. Just real music by real people..astonishing!!

  • Great depth of styles, perfectly executed
    author: Giles Peterson

I can only say that Project Blubook has all the elements to be one of the most original, experimental dance acts in the UK. Faultless Melodies, un-resenting lyrics and blissful, chunky production, that might well be too far into the future, for the average joe to believe. If you trust my opinion, don't hesitate, at the very least LISTEN...THE FUTURE IS HERE.. GP

  • Upbeat Trip Hop meets dark D&B (for starters)
author: Melody Maker (Common UK Underground)

This is a sure-fire, punch-packed debut, with melody and rhythm bursting out in all diretions. Bryant has even managed to capsulate at least 15 years worth of diverse British dance styles, and somewhat successfully. No 'dilly-dallying' here, just pure, uncomprimised freshness, and combined with Gill's vocals, it just leaves me to thank the Lord, that this dynamic duo are doing things their way. CELEBRATE, BUY THIS RECORD NOW! CHECK OUT THEIR MYSPACE PAGE, UNBELIEVABLE!!... www.myspace.com/projectblubook

  • not connected old intersection
    author: katti

this is also strong style ambient/trip hop, no surprises/inovative. and it brings strange fresh feelings. well-balanced soundscapes. softly, but sparkly. if you like get short lost, try this album.

  • Brightly Coloured Blocks of Audible Temptation
    author: Wolverhampton Angry Narcs Collective

'Satisfaction' does exactly that, pure 'piss-off your neighbours' phatness. 'Deep Inside' has the quirkiness of a tibetan monk on the cover of High Times. Glorious production, silky-smooth vocals, and enough melodies to even make Tony Blair glad to be from this god-foresaken isle. Makes us personally proud to be from the same humble grounds of this, the beautiful Black Country. BUY IT NOW, don't wait for the record shops!!

  • Top Tunes from the Saviour of Dance Music
    author: King George

From the harmonica solo on Empty Eyes, to the kick-ass beats of Satisfaction - what this album demonstrates is a clear emphasis on both melody & rythm, with no sacrifice for either..absolutely brilliant..I haven't stopped playing it full blast in my car, since I bought it..so dont delay, I hear through the grapevine the labels are after this!!Good Luck dude!!

  • Dis Shizzle takes the Pizzle
    author: S Dogg

Wot up, ma homey got gooood, never produced ne thing better. Dogg says BUY THIS QUICK FOOOL dis got soul-funk stew garnished all over it. Yum yum!

  • Great, Timeless, Powerful, Moreish Hip Hop & Drum & Bass
author: Kids in Kinver UK (Revolution 4 2Day)

Somewhere between Tricky, Portishead & Roni Size, Project Blubook & Severn Valley Soul have got something original.. great, timeless songs, effortlessy punched-up production and obviously a very talented bunch of musicians. It's the kind of music that seems to transcend the clutches of vogue, not really in fashion, or out of it, just surprisingly moreish, cant quite put our fingers on it, must be something about the great British Black Country. Could be the pollution, or the fact they are from a part of the UK that is further from the sea than anywhere else, but its certainly music that makes you feel, fans of Mary Jane beware!

  • Uniquely fresh & melodic in an ever increasingly saturated scene
    author: Bootleg Unsigned Music Reviewers

Well well well, here at BUMR we have finally found an upto-date & complete dance album that encompasses all the modern forms of electronica.. Truely spectacular, for an unsigned producer to come out with this for his first album leaves us breathless. From dark & soulful drum n bass, to funky, upbeat house & pumpin hiphop, Project Blubook & Severn Valley Soul have cemented their foundations in this recently lack-lustre movement. Music makers beware, a new standard has been set
