Album Notes

WARNING: This CD contains Extremely Low Frequencies.

Project e.l.f., named after the cold war government project of the same name, is the latest work by Roach and Brain who have been making electronic music together for over 10 years. They both hail from the midwest and met while living in Chicago in the early 90's. Having both transplanted to San Francisco they've been involved in many electronic projects including Bluescreen, AB-, COLDR and the improv experimental recordings known as "evil".

This, their first album as Project e.l.f., is a soundscape of IDM beats and rich down tempo ambience. Songs range from the glitchy, driving, near Industrial "Disappearing Bridges" to the eerie, dream-like "Insectasoid". Distorted drums and a decidedly Twin Peaks-like synth line describes "8088" and "8-bit drive by" is a quirky tune constructed purely of 8-bit video game samples.

came across this cd through tastyaudio.com and have not been this impressed with an electronic full length for quite some time. intricate and dynamic, delicate and caustic; exactly what makes music of this style so compelling. heavily recommended.
