Project Mayhem is a powerful and sophisticated rock band of only three members. Their influences range from eternal rock legends such as Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple to some of today’s more progressive acts such as Dream Theater. Mayhem stands out from many bands of today, offering two lead vocalists, complex yet catchy riffs, and an unmistakable family bond that can be seen and felt by their audience. "With brothers Matt and Tim Lillis providing the driving rhythm section, and cousin Jesse Lumb’s dynamic guitar playing, the trio shares a connection comparable to very few bands of today." – Westfield Voice
Project Mayhem, themselves, are incredibly focused and driven. Not only do they write their own music, but they also produce and distribute all of their material as well. It’s All Relative, the bands first full length album, is the culmination of two years of hard work and creativity. While sticking to their Classic and Hard Rock roots, its surprising to hear influence taken from several different styles of music in almost every song. It is this variety that the band prides themselves on that makes It’s All Relative appealing to all kinds of audiences. Project Mayhem has also showcased their musical and technical talents with the releases of two DVD compilations within the past years. The Project Mayhem Rocks series are DVD compilations that the band produces every year. The band is currently promoting the release of the It’s All Relative album through flyers, radio and television, and their frequent live performances.
Project Mayhem started in December of 2003 and played their first show only weeks later. Jesse Lumb is the guitarist and one of the lead vocalists of Mayhem. He is also involved in promoting and booking the band. Tim Lillis enhances the overall sound with his articulate drum work as well as his experienced keyboard playing. His brother Matt Lillis plays bass and shares lead vocals with Jesse. Matt also produces the band’s recordings, videos and maintains the band's website. Each member of Project Mayhem is strong in his own area, bringing something unique to the table.
Project Mayhem as artists have many accomplishments. The band has performed with groups such as Zox, Paranoid Social Club, Matt Nathanson, Lez Zeppelin, No One’s Kind, Sister Machine Gun, 25 Ta Life, The Kate Dunphy Band, Sexhead and Hello Darling. They won first prize at the University of Hartford’s 2005 Battle of The Bands, the Taste Of Enfield's 2005 Battle of The Bands, The Westfield State College 2006 Battle Of The Bands, and The 2006 Bay Path College Battle Of The Bands. Due to his exceptional piano playing abilities, Tim Lillis has won over $11,000 in music-based scholarships. He has accompanied American Idol finalist Sarah Mather and is attending the Berklee College of Music for piano performance. Project Mayhem has also been featured on several college radio stations and has been interviewed in local newspapers including Westfield State College’s The Voice. In both 2005 and 2006 the band also appeared on a few different public access television shows, including the New Music Showcase which broadcasted throughout all of New England.
Project Mayhem’s main goal is to gain support of a record label and spread their music far and wide. Within the next few months, Project Mayhem hopes to be well established in the city of Boston and plans to embark on a New England tour. Through passionate performances, memorable songs, and their unique family bond, Project Mayhem leaves a lasting impression, connecting with each new audience.

Extremely Diverse and Hard Rockin. Loads of Fun.

Well done guys. This CD is awesome from begining to end. Each track has it's own unique sound and ass kicking musical sections. Highlights include the classic rock anthem "You Don't Love Me No More", the ballad turned ska turned jazz turned rock piece "Medora", acoustic stand out "Comin Home Tonight", and the intense trilogy of "Dearly Beloved", "Forgive in Regret", and the CDs namesake, album completing "It's All Relative". The break down section of track 2 is perfectly placed with heavy bends and soulful singing by bassist Matt Lillis. The crazy instrumental section is well topped off by the ten plus second power scream at the end. The addition of Steve Lumb on lead guitar and daughter Casey Lumb on backing vocals to "Comin Home Tonight" really adds a great touch to a sweet sweet acoustical piece. Steve's melodic inserts compliment the song incredibly while Casey's vocal truly fills out the sound heard in the acapella break down. The last three tracks of the album really show the evolution of the bands song writing abilities. The last track, "It's All Relative" is an emotional rollercoaster through all 8 plus minutes; truly an epic and accomplishment for the band. The CD really has alot to offer all sorts of different listeners, with a wide range of appeal, based strongly on rocking out in a fun and passionate way.
