PROJECT>SOUNDWAVE invites artists, musicians and composers to explore the nature of sound - how we see and hear sound, how we create it, how it can be used, and how it affects us. PROJECT>SOUNDWAVE investigates new territory in the creation and meaning of sound, experiments with textures and processes, and explores sound as language, experience, and human connection and interaction.
With colliding works of noise, sound art and rhythmic music, the CD features a selection of artists (spoken word artists, performance artists, djs, musicians, sound artists, noise artists, and visual artists) performing their unique perspectives in sound and sound-making.
PROJECT>SOUNDWAVE asks us to open our minds to the possibilities of what sound can be, and ultimately inspiring us to listen beyond the surface, connect with one another, and find innovative ways for us to think, see, hear, communicate, understand and shape the soundscapes that surround us.
PROJECT>SOUNDWAVE is a not-for-profit project featuring the audio CD, web site (www.projectsoundwave.com) and live events produced by San Francisco-based art organization ME'D1.ATE NETWORK (www.me-di-ate.net). Proceeds benefit the production and programming of PROJECT>SOUNDWAVE CD and Events, and organizations supporting the development of the creative sound arts and education.

A breathtaking assortment of experimental sounds, noises and rhythms
author: Bill Picture, The San Francisco Examiner
S.F.-based creative network ME'D1.ATE NETWORK invited 15 artists of varying disciplines to explore the very nature of sound and its profound effect on our lives and on us as humans. The result is a breathtaking assortment of experimental sounds, noises and rhythms, including samples of escalators and appliances picked up on the cheap at thrift stores, that approach sound from a uniquely artistic perspective rather than a musical one, the dance floor being forsaken in favor of testing the limits of sound's raw emotional capability.
