Album Notes

This is the first release from Chicago based Project ULTRA. Focusing on creating meaningful rock with a constant groove, the band entered the Chicago scene in 2007.

Drawing from the rock energy of classic rock bands, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, and The Who, they have carefully written songs that combine this energy with the songwriting creativity of Radiohead, Beck and other current songwriters. While many bands carry similar rock influences, Project ULTRA is set apart by its instrumentation and its melodies. Richard Thies' compelling voice always leaves the listener with a lingering melody. While the interplay between Thies' keyboard and Nick Ross' powerful guitar creates memorable and energetic music. The noted strong backbone of the band comes from the drumming of Brian Hall and the bass lines of Michael Spiropoulos. Hall, largely influenced by rock drummers like Neal Peart and Jimmy Chamberlin, writes inventive parts while keeping the band tight and full of energy. Spiropoulos' bass lines are deliberately written to keep the songs warm and melodic while always stepping outside of the expected.

In a short time, Project ULTRA has already made a name for themselves on the Chicago music scene. The band has already played for large crowds at the city's best venues.
