A very good re-release!
The Duel Re-release comes along with retouched songs from the original 'Duel' and a few bonus tracks. This album takes you up in a medieval world...and will never let you down's one of the best albums u can get at the moment - go ahead and order it!

Rasmus Wittsell

If you missed this album, you are in luck! Because now you get to buy the improved version! And what a delight it is! This was the first Roland album I heard and it's still my favourite. The sound is still a bit rough here and there, but this can't distract from the fact that this is a fantastic album. It rocks in a medieval kind of way!

The suite "The King Must Die" is to die for, but there are other goodies here such as "Nosferatu" and the radio performances of "Burnt Orchids", "Cairo", "Gabrielle" and "Twilight of the Gods".

The psych-master at his best. "Duel" contains everything a Paul Roland-fans expects. Wonderful melancholic and weird tunes ("Reptile House", "Menagerie"), and delicate rockers ("Knights", "The Crimes Of Dr.Cream"). Also includes the instant classics "Alice`s House", "Nosferatu" and the trilogi "The King Must Die".

If you`re into psychedlic pop with a baroque feel, you will for sure love this guy. Step into the wonderful world of Paul Roland, and experience a friendship that will last forever.

duel. full album
It`s still an amazing album. I bought it long ago as it was a new released record on vinyl and I still gets tears in my eyes while I`m listning to it. Wish there would be more people, who could make and of course got this kind of musician style. It`s a great example of musician`s different technical and workin` know-how! Hope lotsa people are able to understand these many, different styles and how it`s going together wit the words. Only can repeat myself, it`s amazing!!!!!

Haunted Treasure
Expanded edition of "Duel" appends extras tracks and versions that offer the listener more of Paul's genius. Marrying songwriting talent of Barrett, Hitchcock and to a degree Al Stewart with spinning tales into a melody, Paul recreates the middle ages in the songs with rare storytelling talent. If Tolkien could sing his novels.....I think he'd have a voice similar to Paul Roland's. "Duel" is a masterpiece - and this reissue contains subtle re-recordings in some places. Great for the fan and for the beginner.

Gothic Sweetness and Gentle Irony
This is one of the funniest by Paul. There's the sensation of being in a cartoon serial in some songs, the feeling of beeing inside a fairy tale in others, and the unique colour of sound brought by Paul's voice and the "band". When this record was released I thought that in underground pop of that time just Paul and the Pixies had a totally original sound.

Love this song...: Got it on a \'Halloween\' play-list in my iPod.
