Album Notes

Elo Media Productions in conjunction with Editora Musical E Literaria Elo is excited to present our first American band: PROPHET, announcing the Good News of Jesus Christ with Loud music!

PROPHET was a Christian Rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area (Sunol, CA, USA) in the early 1980's and consisted of Margie Blea (lead vocals), Paul Enstrom (keyboards), Dave Myers (guitars and vocals), John Petrocelli (drums) and Steve Moore (bass, vocals). The band played many venues in Northern California, including outreach concerts at Union Square San Francisco, local jails, churches and juvenile halls. After their first album, " I've Given It All To You " PROPHET was joined by Dorothy Morgan on violin, making the band sound like a cross between Kansas, Blondie and Fleetwood Mac.

What set PROPHET apart from other bands of that era was that they had a solid message proclaiming the good news that Jesus died for our sins, in a solid hard-rock, progressive-rock and new-wave rock style, acceptable to young people. A good example of this is in the song, “Walk While You Have The Light”, based on the words of Jesus in John 12:35: “Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going.”
Another example is in the song, “God, In His Mercy”, which is based on Colossians 2:13, which says “When you were dead in your sins, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us, all our sins,”

PROPHET was known for playing too "loud" in churches, and ultimately had to disband in 1984 when it was determined that there were no more venues for Christian Rock bands in the Bay Area except Great America, where for some unknown reason, they were never asked to perform. Please welcome PROPHET in their new venue, digital broadband, world wide! We don't think eternal salvation can be sung loud enough!!!
