Few voices have the power to cut to the bone like Pam Rose's. Layer that over her profound songwriting gift and her consummate musicianship on an assortment of instruments, and you begin to get a glimpse of a real artist.
With longtime writing partner Mary Ann Kennedy, Rose has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, and has won praise for her powerful alliance with Mary Ann as the acclaimed duo Kennedy Rose. The twosome won the ear of rock star Sting and recorded two CDs for his private label Pangaea Records, as well as the chance to open for him on one of his World Tours. As special guests of Emmylou Harris, Kennedy Rose also performed twice for President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton, and later at the Nobel Peace Prize Presentation in Oslo, Norway.
Although classically trained, she has never betrayed her roots in acoustic rock and folk, nor her Southern soul. "I never thought there was much difference between a Taj Mahal blues riff or Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings", says Rose. "I think they are equally evocative".
The fact that Rose has chosen to live in Nashville for most of her career has proven very benefecial for her career as a songwriter, and has added yet another facet to her range of influence. Many artists in country music as well as pop music have recorded her songs, ranging from Reba McEntire to Art Garfunkel. Just some of these songs include "Ring on her Finger, Time on Her Hands", "Safe In The Arms of Love" by Martina McBride, and the classic country/pop crossover ballad "I'll Still Be Loving You", by Restless Heart, which won her one of her Grammy Nominations.

"Morpheus"
author: Nancy HoitI first heard some Pamela Rose songs years ago on a Nashville Underground album... Her music is so amazing... her voice is sensational with great range, the songs and instrumentation show enormous variety and creativity. I've bought 10 CDs to give to family and friends. We LOVE her music! Romantic, spiritual and strong, they reflect her love of the natural world, and humankind.
beautiful craftmanship, lovely singing
author: joel levittthe songs made me feel sentimental and very thoughtful about relationships and love. i was touched. i am touched in a good way. thank you
Very beautiful CD. Great voice.
author: John EmbryLoved it the first time I listened. It just gets better eachtime.
Best CD I've heard in years
author: Robert BuskI first saw Pam Rose on Austin City Limits in the 80's. There were some great talent on that stage that night featuring female contry stars. Love Like This blew me away. Pam's voice is like an angel. Morpheus doesn't have a bad track. All are great. But You Have No Idea stands out. In the league with Joni Mitchell and Jennifer Warnes. Please do more Pam.
Great lyrics and music and well produced
author: Jim HerdenThis CD needs to be heard completely from start to finish. The songs are linked in a surely purposeful manner. Powerful lyrics combine with often intricate voicings of an eclectic instrumentation. If these songs don't move you, you must be frozen!
Fantastic!
author: Søren Andersen, Hvidovre, DenmarkPamela Rose makes amazing sounds and has a winning vocal style all her own. Some of the songs remind you of Mary Ann Kennedy's work, but that's no big surprise, considering the fact that they often collaborate and once worked together in the stunning country duo Kennedy Rose. Great album!
Strikingly different yet familiar through a journey full of emotinal beauty!
author: Ron LylesI have a couple of CD's by Kennedy Rose and expected the same type of listening experience. I was quite surprised that what came out at me was strikingly different yet still familiar. This CD takes you on a journey full of emotional beauty through different levels of musical experiences and it's still growing on me.Morpheus is a perfect title for this work of Art!!!!!
A musical marriage that promises to be long-lived
author: Janet CosterThis is an outstanding cd by an ongoingly gifted artist! Pamela Rose is a truly original lyricist, who knows how to marry her words and evocative voice with inspiring instrumentation. The result is a soulful and impactful collage that invites the listener to become a participant in what proves to be an untiring musical journey.
Wonderful work worthy of Pam Rose.
author: Wil HodgeThe CD moves well from song to song. It's well laid out, even the ergonomic and enviornmental friendly cover. The songs make me want stop after each one and catch my breath. Really! I was really blown away. Listen to this CD! You have no idea.
Listen to this music, it is beautiful, endearing, and enduring.
author: Brad BakerMost of the music that I hear is disposable and has a short half-life. “Morpheus”, by Pamela Rose is not disposable. It contains music that enlivens the mind and fires the spirit. The lyrics are intricately crafted and the music is complex yet accessible. It took Pamela two years two complete "Morpheus", and it was time well spent. I think every word is perfect and every note belongs. I highly recommend “Morpheus” and rank it with the work of Mary Chapin Carpenter, Lucinda Williams, Joni Mitchell and Emmy Lou Harris. If you enjoyed CDs such as “time*sex*love*”, “Red Dirt Girl”, “Stumble into Grace, “Turbulent Indigo and Hejira you will enjoy “Morpheus”.
I love her voice and the way she weaves the instrumentals with the songs
author: Virginia HagenTerrific CD. Beautiful songs, voice, instruments all are emotionally stirring. I play it over and over and hear more each time. Keep me posted on more of this artists CD's.
Lovely
author: TerryBeautiful, heart-stirring melodies and luscious accompaniment. My favorites are "My Beloved", "I Knew You When", and "I'll Get Over You", but I also like Pam's version of "Guns of Love" and her solo version of "Walls". If you're a Kennedy Rose fan, you'll love this album.
- author: CD Baby
There are no words three-dimensional enough to capture the full-spectrum, vibrant beauty of Pamela Rose's voice, but it feels as natural for her to sing as for the wind to play with the trees; it is a voice that was always meant to sing, a voice that must sing as Spring must awaken. In her songs that span intelligent adult contemporary soft pop to beautiful, Irish-influenced ballads, these richly-orchestrated songs leave a path of calm and fulfillment behind them. In the league with Karen Carpenter, Joni Mitchell, Anne Murray and Stevie Nicks.
The music and voice of Pam Rose are unbelievably beautiful.
author: Debi SmithThe music on this CD is beautiful. I enjoyed the different instruments used on each song. The songwriting is powerful. Pam's voice delightful. My favorites are Beloved, Walls, and You Have No Idea. A must have if you want music that touches every part of you.
