Having listenend to their music alot on their Myspace page before finally breaking down and buying the CD, I thought I had an idea exactly what i was in for. I was wrong. Their sounds are WAY better on your home or car stereo turned all the way up, pissing off the neighbors! I can't really pick a favorite song because they are each awesome in their own right. You know how most albums have those 1 or 2 songs that you just don't dig so you skip over them? This CD doesn't have that. I love each and every song.. This CD is one of the best I have bought in quite some time!

They love the rock, and SO SHOULD YOU!

I LOVE to be eased into an amazing CD, absolutely love it. When “Shots” came on and I heard the ever-escalating backtrack behind the haunting, calm vocals, I knew from experience that these guys were going to give me a nice, up-beat chorus to jam to–which is exactly what they did. “Shots” is a pretty sweet opener, with a short-lived chorus that does exactly what it wants to–gets you nice and pumped for the music to come. Following the opener are two tracks, “Feelin’ This,” and “The Question.” which are both meant to get you right back into moving along with the music. While the first pervades this initial philosophy throughout it’s whole track with never-relenting drums and always-steady guitar set behind what seems like a two minute and forty second chorus, judging by the fact that I wanted to sing the entire song without dropping an extra breath. “The Question” sets you up for some heavy rocking, but snatches it right away before the first verse, replacing it with haunting, mellow lyrics set over some really awesome drums. Man, I finally get a badass scream in this track too and some pretty sweet double-kicks too.
Seeing as how this is CD Baby, and you’re not really expected to give “in-depth reviews” I’ll cut it short by just touching over the rest of the tracks. “Sleepless” has by-far my favorite vocals on the CD, not to mention my favorite intro. “Believing” is acoustic-goodness at its best. It shows that just because they can rock hard doesn’t mean they cant sing your pants off without those pounding drums and electric guitar along to assist. When “Versus” (the title track) starts, you just know you’re in for an awesome track once you hear that intro. Its got an amazing chorus, and your body will most certainly be moving the entire track. “Harder Than Before” showcases some pretty nifty guitar riffs, and is just an all-around great rock track. Once I heard the closing track “Ransom” in its entirety one thing became very clear to me: Prosevere knows what they are doing. They clearly know what defines an “opener” to a CD and a “closer.” When I was finished with “Ransom” which is an amazing track, I knew that was the end because it just felt like a closer. Featuring some of the best instrumentals on the album, this is easily my second favorite track.
The bad? It ended. I wanted to keep listening, but the good thing about this CD is the fact that when I started it around on its second playthrough it all took me the very same way it did the first time. If you like rock: buy this CD. If you like hard rock: buy this CD. “Versus” is a CD that comes with a solid eight great tracks with amazing instrumentals, and some of my favorite vocals of any band ever. Its great to listen to under almost any circumstance, so long as during this “circumstance” you’re able to tap your feet and bob your head to some pretty awesome music. These guys work hard and they deserve to be as big as they aspire to be. If you’ve any doubt after reading this review, click on the left there to be instantly hooked and buy this. Five stars, keep it up guys!
