Protégée: On Her Own Terms...

Protégée (noun): woman or girl under somebody's patronage: a young woman who receives help, guidance, training, and support from somebody who is older and has more experience or influence.

"The game has taught me what I need to know, and how to do my own thing," says Protégée with a total air of confidence and prestige. "I was raised by a strong black woman who gave me morals, strength, and guidance. And when I got into the music game, it raised me to have a sense of my own style. That's why now; my music is on MY OWN TERMS."

Nicole White, known to the music world as Protégée, is a multi-dimensional artist with an understanding of change. Protégée's debut album called "DA EP," was an introduction. It was the first meeting of a somewhat quiet individual, a loud message, and the hip hop world. That meeting produced a second, more renowned, album called "Black Widow."

"Nobody messes with a black widow," Protégée says. "That's how I feel when I come to the mic." Now, more confident then ever Protégée is prepared to take the Hip Hop world by force and on her own terms with her third album "The Novel, Book One & Book Two." Book one entitled "A Day in the Life of..." is a classic description of how Protégée does her thing. "I want my audience to know who I am and what I go through. My life and Hip-hop music has taught me many lessons, and brought me many joys and tribulations. I want that to show."

Along with being a talented rapper, Protégée's life journey has brought her to being a Music Heritage Award winner for best new artist, a model, a college graduate, and a recording label CEO. "Change is good. I go with the flow of life as long as it is lined up with what my Momma taught me," says Protégée with a smile. "I understand that I represent her too."
