A daring first album, 'Shelter' is bare-bones. A live solo album without the audience. The bass in this intimate setting gives way to a massive range of emotion and style - from brooding classical to jazz with a thick, sticky swagger. Seven original compositions that draw inspiration from the sandbox where Bach and Mingus played together as kids.
Prouty is currently located in Philadelphia, where he is applying the last of eighty-six ribbons required to wrap his second solo album, La Risa Fea. He is also creating sound with the members of Voodoo Economics. (myspace.com/voodooeconomics)

I never knew that a person could make a bass guitar sound like this!! Jeremy's amazingly creative and just all around talented. If you play the bass, like its sound, or are just into great music, this is a must have!!!

He was a child prodigy

This album is cool. I had a "moment" with it... mellow intricacy that goes well on a balmy, breezy Sunday afternoon when you're waking up too late and the window's open and it just feels good. I've also seen him play live in Portland, and I had no idea that what he does with his hands was actually possible.

You can really tell that he has talent, and that he knows what he is doing! I haven't heard the bass played like this before, with so much energy and just different all around sounds and styles. BUY this cd if you want to listen to something great at anytime.
