Album Notes

BIO:

Pal Shazar first entered the music scene with the popular and critically respected 80's new wave band "Slow Children". Along with husband Jules Shear, the band band presented intelligent lyrics with a high energy guitar- and synth-driven sound.

Pal has continued writing songs with intelligent, insightful, and spirtually probing lyrics, with a different musical style mixing rock, blues and folk influences, delivering them with a worldly and rough-edged vocal tone that tells you she knows whereof she sings.

Ranging from narrative folk ballads to funky blues grooves to all out thunderous powerchords, produced by Pal and an amazing array of excellent musicians (including Mike Scott of the Waterboys, and of course Jules Shear), her recordings are first rate renderings of songs that deserve such a treatment.

Originally from LA, and finally settling in Woodstock, Pal also became well known for her paintings and for clothes design, all while independently releasing her CDs and garnering an international cult following.

Pal regularly performs at THE LIVING ROOM in NYC, and recently published a book of her paintings titled "THE ILLUSTRATED LYRICS".

WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE:

Guitar driven tracks with an emotional range you don't normally have in this genre, from the stress of "It's Starting Again" to the sad anger of the classic "Requiem", from the almost gothic "Formula" to the ethereal "Sky Turns Grey", and so much more...you get it all here. Regarded by many fans as Pal at her very best.
