Album Notes

Patricia Stebbins Sager has been playing, studying and loving music as long as she can remember. She started piano at age five, moved onto French horn, flute, a whole host of Rennaissance instruments and guitar in grade and high school.A classically trained soprano, Pat has a BA in music performance from Skidmore College as a voice major.

Pat started playing harp in her mid-thirties, when she grew tired of seeing stars and running into things while practicing the Great Highland Bagpipe. At a Scottish festival, she stepped into a building to get out of the rain, heard a magical sound, followed it to a room full of persons playing harps of all sizes, and was hooked.

Pat is a regular participant in the harp activities at the New Hampshire Highland Games. She frequently plays harp in the Revels North Christmas productions, and has appeared as a guest artist with the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra. Vocally, she has been a soloist and member of the choir of St. James Episcopal church in Woodstock VT, since 1981, and has sung with various choral groups, ranging from opera to folk music.

"Heroes and Friends" is Pat's first album, though she has appeared on Revels North's recording "A Celtic Feast of Song", and "Gift from the River", by hammer dulcimer player Samantha Moffatt. "Heroes and Friends" is primarily music written by Pat for the people in her life, and ranges from haunting airs to waltzes to high spirited and humorous jigs and reels. Pat calls upon her Scottish heritage for inspiration when writing. She was joined on this recording by some of the finest musicians in the New England area.

When not making music, Pat enjoys being outdoors, reading, and taking care of way too many horses. She lives in Vermont with her family, which includes a husband, daughter, and various canine, feline and equine members as well.
