Psychatrone is a lone psychedelic musician that experiments with tape loops and tape "cut-ups",and uses all sorts of instruments and debris to concoct his musical adventures!
Wire magazine(from the UK)said that Psychatrone is "very much in the tradition of private press luminaries like SIMONES and St.MIKEAL.The Acid Mothers tribute,'Theme from Acid Mother Lovers' is particularly deranged, with tumbling electronics and high frequency flashes slowly giving way to snatches of what sounds like Godzilla terrorising Nagoya. The Cd moves from heavy machine and guitar interaction to spaced tape manipulations, cut with daft hippy humour."
Aural Innovations(an on-line Cd review magazine/radio station)said that Mr.Rhonedakk "put his own unique stamp on some far out ,trippy and exciting music and deserves a place amongst those he reveres." The revered artists here are Ghost,Can,Keiji Haino,Silver Apples,Hawkwind,Flying Saucer Attack,Roy Montgomery,Terry Riley, and the Bevis Frond to name just a few mentioned on the CDs booklet! Aural Innovations was also nice enough to say that..."this whole album is not to be missed.Psychatrone Rhonedakk, while exploring the past, looks into the future of psychedelic music, and creates one of the most far out and refreshing listens of recent years. Explore his psychedelic mind!"
One U.K. catalog said,"Just when we were bemoaning the lack of any good new space rock come this bunch of brain-fried trip heads from the US.Taking Hawkwind,Ghost,AMT,Amon Duul,The Godz, and The 13th Floor Elevators as a blueprint(the album features covers of tracks by some of these bands)this Pennsylvania based combo have created a weird and entertaining disc.Filled with samples of 1960's drug records, swirling synths and trippy effects it sure sounds good on headphones!" Psychatrone was pretty happy to have been called a "bunch of brain-fried trip heads",especially since most of the music was played by him alone! Talk about multiple personalities! But,truthfully, this just let Mr.Rhonedakk know that he had achieved the full band sound that he had aimed for during recording.
The Cd's cover photos are in tribute to (the un-imitable)Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band, and the whole CD is meant to be a sort of tribute to the bands that made Psychatrone what he is today...a bunch of brain-fried...ummm,NO...I mean a hopeless fan of all bands psychedelic(be they classic,or neo-psych)!
Oh yes, this CD did recieve air-play on WFMU(New Jersey),and at KFJC(California)too! Thanks to both of those great radio stations for playing our humble release!
Psychatrone Rhonedakk invites you to come and taste this fine "brain damagement"*!
