An amazing array of talent on offer and a superb label debut. Never having been to Boston, it makes me want to make a bee line straight for this Pub and check out the bands.

Excellent collection from Boston's best live music venue

Matt Murphy's is that rare place where people come to actually listen to music. Musicians come to see other musicians. Most of these bands play at a variety of other joints around town, but the best gigs always happen at Matt Murphy's. So take all the best bands from the reggae/funk/jazz scene and throw them all together, and you end up with this amazing collection. What's remarkable, though, is that the CD could have been better. In my opinion, the Toussaint tracks are outstanding but not off the hook, and Toussaint is quite often WAY off the hook. Also, I think Kings Highway has more interesting songs than the one on the CD, but this is a matter of preference. The bottom line is that this really needs to turn into a 20-disc series, because there is so much wealth of material in the Murph's archive its ridiculous. Really and truly each of these bands should have an entire 2-CD set released.
