Album Notes

Meet “Martha”
The latest album from “The Pucks”

Once numbering in the billions “Martha” thought to be the world’s last passenger pigeon, passed into extinction on September 1, 1914 in the Cincinnati Zoo. And so it goes………

The Pucks
Canada is not a melting pot……it’s a salad. Diverse ingredients from far and wide are routinely tossed together, often creating a brilliant mix. That’s just Canada for you.

Happens all the time.

Maybe that’s the only way to explain how, a wilderness guide, a tuba playing small “I” industrialist, and a conservatory trained piano/clarinet player (turned vocalist-percussionist ) could end up in the same band together; (let alone the same room)……but hey-that’s just Canada………..

Here’s what the press is saying about
“The Pucks” recently released forth cd “Martha”… … …

My new BFF is a great CD. Martha is the title song of The Pucks’ sensational new album
Listen to the lyrics. Enjoy the musicianship. what a sweet musical ride
Ten original songs, all with something different to offer.

For the most part, this is a high-energy, feel-good CD, but Martha’s got some heart and soul too. If you care about nature and the fate of our universe – you’ll love listening to Martha (No One in the Universe) a compelling song with beautifully written lyrics and a haunting list of endangered species. Nice work, Gable.

Cindy is at her best ever in the sexy, sultry tune Intoxicated with Gibbons on strings. Her vocals on the last track, Watch Me, with Gibbons on lap pedal steel are right up there with her best performances and she has lots of fun with No More Little Woman, a sassy, very upbeat tune that shows off her vocal range.

For his part, Milk Man’s Son and Rifle and a Bible are two songs where Gable’s lyrics are so clever they make you smile.

The Pucks at their best! www.thepucks.ca
