The Pyramid Band Story...
Ellie and I met in Ashland, Oregon in 1977. We got together in a tiny cabin in the hills of Ashland one night with a bottle of wine and a couple of acoustic guitars and our lives were changed forever.
We began performing together in local restaurants and nightclubs, and soon found ourselves providing music for weddings and parties as well. The magic of our music soon caught the attention of several of the 'hot' local musicians who would often bring their instruments and sit in on our performances.
It wasn't long before we began appearing at the local nightclubs as a four or five-piece band. And--although we enjoyed the support of bass, drums, guitars and mandolins--we clung to our roots in folk music. Inspiration and material came from a wide range of artists.
In 1980 Ellie and I got married!
Over the years we each found success in separate bands, honing our skills and gathering experience. In 1990 we re-established ourselves as a duo, assuming the name 'Pyramid' and performing the songs that had really moved us when they first came out. We shifted from the folk style to more rock and blues.
Our life and our musical careers continue to bring us joy and satisfaction as we share our music with others. This is a collection of songs that are special to us. The performances are our tribute to the songwriters and the artists who have inspired us.
The title for this CD was inspired by a novel, Slaughterhouse 5, by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. In this book, Billy Pilgrim is caught in a 'chronosynclastic infundibulum' and becomes 'Unstuck in Time.' Hopefully the music on this CD will become 'Unstuck in Time' too!

It's important for us to recognize a few musicians whose songwriting, guitar playing, musicianship, and lives continue to inspire us to improve ourselves both musically and personally!
The Beatles--who changed the world and changed our lives with their music;
Jackson Browne--songwriter extraordinaire; Bonnie Raitt--for her soulful voice and totally amazing slide guitar work; George Harrison--amazing songwriter/guitarist, and a humble man who was a giant with a clear view over the crowd; Nathan East-consummate musician, amazing bassist, very humble, and maybe the nicest man we have ever met.
Eric Clapton is our all time favorite guitarist, songwriter and performer. If you have never seen Eric in concert, I urge you not to miss him the next time he comes around. His recorded music captures only a small fraction of the magic of his live performances.

Brilliant, fresh takes on classic greats, respectful of the originals!
author: Jefferson Music Review
Brilliant! They start with tunes that are among the best rock has to offer. Clapton, Joplin, Nicks, Slickāit's a hall of greats. And Pyramid shows a genuine respect for the original artists' vision. The melody line is the backbone of a pop/rock tune. Pyramid respects that fact while adding fresh vocal and instrumental interpretations that enhance our appreciation without destroying the music. Claptonesque guitar phrasing and precision vocal harmonies combine with a solid rockin' groove for a truly inspiring listening experience. Don't miss it!

Great Cover Music from the Northwest
author: P. Snell, Tucson Music Critic
What a nice surprise when I put Pyramid's Unstuck in Time in the player. Not only do Steve and Ellie cover some of the best songs we grew up on, they do it with an energy that would make the orignial recording artists proud. There's not a weak track on the disc; every song is strong and well-recorded. My only wish is that Pyramid would tour the Southwest so I could see this amazing band live. In the meantime, Unstuck in Time remains stuck in my changer. I highly recommend this disc to anyone who loves classic rock and roll. And if you don't, this one might just change your mind.

One of the best compliments I think we can give is that my husband walked in when I was listening to Rhiannon and he asked me if that was Stevie Nicks or Ellie singing.
