Album Notes

"The Wave" is an original rock musical written by daCapo Productions' Producer Olaf Pyttlik, and recorded as a double CD album at daCapo Productions.

The Wave is based on a frightening true event as recounted in a short story by Ron Jones. A teacher, Dr. Berg, struggles to instill in his students an understanding of how a dictator like Hitler could win the support of an entire nation. He initiates an experiment based on a classroom protocol of unity, discipline, and action, which becomes so powerful that it disrupts the entire school. Unpopular students find acceptance and those who resist the Wave risk being ostracized and the threat of violence. During the course of this experiment, the students and their teacher learn a powerful lesson.

By 2009 The Wave will have been mounted in Canada, the USA, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium and translated into German and Dutch.

This Show is awesome!!! I saw this show at a local school in Jersey and I love it. This show should appear on Broadway soon because everyone needs to know about the show. However, "The Wave" is not popular enough for other people to know about it. I think this album should be sent out to music stores everywhere, so everyone can just buy it and liseten to it at home. This CD really ROCKS!!!!!

I love this CD! The music and the storyline are incredible. This needs to be on Broadway!! The singers are very good, and I can only imagine what the choreography looks like. Not only do I hope one day to see this show on stage, I hope to be in it.

While surfing the web doing research for a play I am writing, I came across this somewhat obscure recording. I purchased it and expected it to be absolutely horrible. It wasn't. Granted, this is no Broadway Cast Recording, it is still very simple and honest. A few of the songs (Terminal Velocity, for example) stick with you, but for the most part a lot of the melodies are forgettable. It took me a good three times through it to get a sense of the piece as a whole. The orchestrations are synthesized, and sound like they were done on a weekend in someone's home recording studio. Vocally, these are not overly incredible sounding singers or actors. The subject material is fascinating, and I would love to see a copy of this show done as it was onstage. Might be nice to hear a fully-orchestrated version of it as well, rather than the amateur home-studio-type of sound the show has now.
