Album Notes

The 2010 released EP, floe, by qanda (pronounced "cue-and-a") is the music of Houston, Texas-born singer-songwriter Jordi Baizan who has been involved in the local music scene both as front-man of The Tiles and as a solo artist. His music combines the influences of classic artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Radiohead, and Wilco with a contemporary sound. This EP is qanda's first studio release and will be followed by a regional tour.

If you enjoy the pop, rock, and folk sounds of the 60s to the 90s and are interested in fresh, original music that reflects a rich life experience, this artist is for you. The music on floe features Jordi Baizan's soulful vocals complemented by the unique style of the band. Come reconnect with the unifying beauty and power of music.

The freshman outing from qanda is a crisp, well-crafted brand of adult rock. Eminently listenable, this collection reflects a creative optimism and zest for life in the first and last tracks along with a quiet, deep contentment in "Give You", yet avoids sentimentality with the subtle resignation of "Cecile" and the interventionist theme of "Here For You". Baizan's ability to develop a melody and flesh it out with textured instrumentality demonstrates a love for the process - as well as the outcome - of writing a song.
