Album Notes

Quake City Jug Band serves up classic swing, blues, folk, and jazz, along with feather boas, tap dancing, and general musical mayhem.

Quake City really was a jug band when it started in San Francisco in 1997 with a washtub bass, banjo, jug, 12-string guitar, and kazoos. Though the instrumentation has evolved, our jug spirit remains. The band now features multiple vocalists with mandolin, guitar, accordion, saxophone, stand-up bass, harmonica, and a bit of good old tap dancing.

Greetings from Quake City evolved from the band’s stage show, which has been a crowd favorite at events like the SF Jug Band Festival and SF Folk Club’s Hootenanny! Included are gems from the 20’s through 40’s, along with a few modern classics.
