THANK U FOR SUPPORTING THE POWER OF THIS PROJECT!!!!!!!

QUEEN GODIS - (pron: kwen-god-iz)

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Queen God-Is one of the most gifted, lyrically insightful, thought provoking, and dynamic spoken word artists of our time. Her gifts however, extend way beyond the realm of poetry. Her debut album, Power U! , highlights Queen as co-producer, budding engineer, MC, and singer who hooks up both lead and background vocals with her awe-inspiring sense of melody and harmony.

Her work incorporates Hip Hop, soul, rock and even some theater- bringing forth a powerfully unique energy that wows crowds of every demographic. An entertainer, seeker and conveyor of truth, her socially conscientious yet accessible lyrics (from the hood to the burbs, projects to penthouse) invoke chills and undeniably leave you changed.

Touching an array of audiences, GodIs showcases at venues that range from public schools and cozy cafes, to huge concert and university lecture halls both nationally and abroad. She has and continues to grace the stage with some of the top artists of our lifetime. Even more significantly, she dedicates a great portion of her time empowering youth all over the world with her work.

In 2001, Queen was hand selected to appear as feature performance poet on part of Les Nubians' (Afro-European singing duo) international tour route. Her work also appears on two tracks on the album: Les Nubians Presents Echoes: Chapter One Nubian Voyager - released in the Fall of 2005. Rave reviews inspired the label to re-release this record as a poetry book with CD in the summer of 2006.

ABOUT THE ALBUM:
(FULL LENGTH ALBUM PLUS MINI-CHAPBOOK WITH ARTWORK...WELL WORTH YOUR HARD..OR EASILY EARNED MONEY...)

Perhaps womanHood is as a landscape. If so, the album Power U! is a wonderful journey through its diverse "terrains." Queen delivers raw imagery that brings to light fresh revelations about society and its relationship to the female body. Witty and intelligent, yet boldly honest, her mission is to use the “beautiful struggle” of womanhood to help us reexamine how we view ourselves, our communities and our relationships.

In her own words: “Power U!” is a multi-medium journey through the sacred feminine (mountains, peaks and valleys - complete with flood and drought). It is a never-ending poem and an open love letter to self. It is bold, beautiful and honest! Each track started out as a poetic statement connected by theme and vision. Later, through a series of lessons and experiences communicated to me how they would best be conveyed. The result: song, rhyme, spoken word, story and more singing...It is a reflection, a resurrection, a revelation. It is raw...The vocals, structure and ideas are as “Lioness” - wild, fierce, untrained and untamed. It is in-tune, timely, and moving. It induces goosebumps (even for me). It is HIP and POWERFUL work!”

On this powerful album, Queen navigates a hip yet humble path through the 'ugly' to guide us back to the beautiful -a journey that millions of people all over the world (regardless of race, class, faith and gender) face everyday.

5 stars? that's it? she deserves all of the stars in the sky. she is a very talented young lady. she is a poet, singer, and raps very positive . how many people can be so versatile? she takes your mind to a higher level of thinking. each song on the album is truly a great listen. her subject matter is what everyone NEEDS to hear. there is no skipping tracks here. production work is great. everything about this album is exceptional. she is what maya angelou calls a phenominal woman. my anticipation for the next album is through the roof. she is truly an inspiration to those who seek wisdom.

Unique and truly talented
author: Mary
I first found out about Queen GodIS on myspace and her name sparked my curiousity. So I listened and read about her and decided I am going to take a chance and get her cd's (I got two) and I was very pleased. Not only does she have a beautiful deep and soulful voice, she lets her passions and individualtity shine in her songs. Some of the "songs" are more like lyrical plays on words and there are many allusions present in the album too--Its also a very personal album for her too, I believe she put her child's voice on the album? She's a storyteller, and inspires the listener to listen more deeply in life. Being a singer and artist myself, She's inspiring to me because of her courage and strength she displays and also her vulnerability, in songs that she sings about love. such a double edged sword. Well, Im gonna keep this review short...oh I might add, the music is also very good on the album, and my boyfriend who is a very talented musician and snob when it comes to music said he liked it a lot. He's from Chicago and wanted to hear her and Common together. hehehe Aloha
