Album Notes

After quite a hiatus, and several hundred iterations of sometimes vehement oaths to NOT produce another CD, we finally yielded to the mandates born of (a) having Nikki, our whistler, write an original song and (b) having a several "new to us" songs that we do, (c) having Danny O'Flaherty tell us we *must* do "Hills of Connemara" and (d) adding a 5th person to the band!
DJ, our fiddler from back when we recorded "Pawn to King Four", found her way back around the world, and joins Bruce, Susi, Becky, and Nikki in this wonderful compilation of songs. We've put everything from instrumentals to rebellion songs to soft ballads on this album, and re-recorded "new" arrangements of "Greensleeves" and "Green Grow the Rashes O" to reflect "the way we do them now". "Seven Bridges Road" was an idea Nikki had to perform for "Cover Monday" at Kansas City Renaissance Faire, and of course we had to record it. "Beggars To God" is a wonderful song that we started doing this past Fall, as is "Royal Oak", which Bruce had done solo for a while, and got picked up by the rest of the band. Nikki wrote "Brigid's Lament" some time back, and this is the first QG original. We have it on good authority that it won't be the last.

Castle Queen Side
author: Jack H

The harmonies alone make the entire CD worth the purchase. 7 Bridges Road Cover is astounding. Along with all the traditional songs is a couple of songs that really stand out for me. Brigid's Lament is the group's first original song and they knocked it out of the park. Beggars to God is also a favorite and I can not find the words to describe the tune it is just beautifully don
