Album Notes

QUINTEN BROID MANIA WITH DEBUT RELEASE

The official debut album from energetic South African born Singer/Songwriter Quinten Broid will hit the shelves in the early summer of 2011. When you think of South Africa, you immediately think energy, rich, vibrant colours, friendly people, and that is exactly how you can describe Broid. He has a contagious passion for the creative process and for life in general.

The album is titled Reading Lines and will fit comfortably in the collection of fans of Lifehouse, The Fray, Daughtry and David Gray. The first single ‘My Mistake’ will debut on radio a few weeks in advance of the album’s release to give fans a taste of this well produced and well written album.

Quinten recorded Reading Lines at Pop Planet Studios, Johannesburg with well known Producer, Marius Brouwer. Boasting a more gritty sound, the new album features 10 original songs by Quinten, each providing a combination of strong melodic riffs and well placed lyrics, coloured by Broid’s signature clear cut vocals. SAMA nominee, KrissTel makes a guest appearance and adds to the international sound of the album.

Quinten’s life has certainly been full of experiences that gave him plenty of material for this new album. He is an enthusiastic photographer and traveler and thrives on visiting new places and meeting new people. He has performed extensively in South Africa, mostly notably at Gallagher Estate and Sandton Sun in Johannesburg and at the Boschenmeer and Fairview Estates, Cape Town.

A big step towards breaking into the international market came when Quinten signed with US publisher, Crucial Music only weeks before the official launch of Reading Lines. The new album follows the unofficial 2009 debut that delivered three singles with extensive performances all across the country.

Active in the support of upcoming artists, Quinten founded the WE NEED LOVE FUND in early 2009. “Our mission is to encourage youngsters to become active musicians,” Quinten explains. “We sponsor musical instruments to individuals in communities where needed and then also assist with the training or in some cases we find suitable music teachers. One instrument can save a dream and bring the community closer together.”

The launch of the album will be accompanied by several launch shows and fans are encouraged to visit Quinten’s website which provides everything you could want to know about the young musician. Fans can check out his Myspace page and also join his group on Facebook.
