ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album is the long-awaited jazz debut recording of the Boston area saxman Tony Quintiliani. He has been performing professionally for over 20 years and his diverse style has enabled him to be a natural part of any type of band be it R&B, Rock, Jazz, Blues etc. Here he offers many new original tunes (as well as the classic standard "Stardust") covering a wide range of musical flavors from samba to gospel to funk. He plays all of the saxophones with equal intensity and this cd is sure to please any fan of the instrument for years to come.

Tony Quintiliani has been playing the saxophone for 32 years and has been performing professionally for over 20 years. Having been recognized for his exceptional ability many times throughout his musical career, Tony studied at the Berklee College of Music as well as privately with John Payne, Bill Thompson and Dennis Taylor. He began his career working with the popular local Boston R&B/Motown act "Sally and the Sophisticatz" throughout 80's and later continued with such bands as "The Wrecking Crew," "The Whitewalls," "The Big Bad Wolf," "The Swinging Johnsons," "Something Blue," "The Love Dogs," "Blue Heaven," "The Bruce Marshall Group," "The Feel," "Comic Strip," and "Clutch Grabwell." In addition to performing as part of these rock, r&b and blues groups, Tony formed his own jazz group "Q'd Up" which performed in several jazz clubs in the Boston area for over 2 years.

His performances have played a part in opening acts for such well known artists as "The Beach Boys," "John Pousette-Dart," "Wilson Pickett," "Junior Walker," "Eddie Money," "Average White Band," "America," "David Cassidy" and "Johnny Winter." He has also performed on stage with blues legend "Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown." Tony also performed with "Amy and the Hank Sinatras" at "Vic's Kangaroo Café" in New Orleans and was invited to join the group at the New Orleans Jazz Festival.

He is currently a member of the acoustic rock group "The Jon Frattasio Band" with whom he has performed at Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville Café" in Key West as well as several venues around Boston and Cape Cod.

Tony is also a member of "The Johnny Ray Band" that performs regularly in Las Vegas where he has recently relocated. Tony has performed at such venues as The Monte Carlo Casino & Hotel, The Legendary Stardust Casino and the MGM Grand.

In 2004, Tony performed our national anthem "The Star Spangled Banner" at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts during opening ceremonies for both the New England Revolution soccer team and the New England Patriots football team.

Tony brings a positive, crisp and passionate jazz-flavored funky groove to every performance. His most recent jazz recording endeavor "A Circle of Riffs" covers a wide variety of jazz styles from sweet ballads to samba to funk and includes original music co-written by Tony.

Tony's made another step towards greatness with this release
The collaborations are incredible as are the instrumentals. Circle of Riffs is one of the best new releases on the market.

Jon Frattasio

The music created on the Circle of Riffs is a breath of fresh air. Each number is so different and refreshing from one to the next. Tony Q's CD is an ecclectic blend of music with the saxophones performed with authority but also grace and tenderness. Tony's original style is a wonderful sound that you will not forget once you here his CD. Give yourself a treat and get Circle of Riffs in your collection today. You'll be glad you did!

This cd is a must for all true fans of quality jazz.
The instrumentals that are presented on this CD are magnificently performed while the quality of the saxophone arrangements is top notch. Ranging from soprano to baritone, each song has something to excite even the most finicky of saxophone listeners. With an array sax tracks being performed and the quality of workmanship that he presents on each song,it is inevitable that this artist will one day make his mark where all the great musicians reside.
