Native Americans have the highest smoker rate of any race on Turtle Island (a.k.a. North America). This recording is for that reason, geared towards their needs but does not exclude other groups. QuitQuest is designed to be a helpful complement to a well-planned journey to becoming smoke-free. May Great Spirit guide you through the prayers, affirmations, drummings, and teachings on this C.D. to the use of tobacco only for ceremonial purposes.

Mary Wheelan (a.k.a. Singing Turtle) and Strong Oak are both former smokers. Mary ran a tobacco treatment program at a health center in Western Massachusetts until state funding for most tobacco treatment programs was eliminated. Strong Oak, who has a masters degree in clinical social work, has worked extensively with trauma survivors who have multiple addictions. Both Strong Oak and Mary are experienced ATRIUM (Addiction, Trauma, Recovery, Integration Model) group facilitators.
