ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Rachel grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, learned piano from her mom, and started writing little melodies by ear when she was five. In High School, her youth pastor gave her an old beat up acoustic guitar. She's been hooked ever since.
Rachel's song "Take me by the heart" won her the Gospel Music Association's IMMERSE amateur class song of 2010, a national songwriting competition and conference.

This artist arrived at the name DEPARTURE for her latest release out of a trip to Nashville to record the new music. Having always recorded and played everything herself in her home studio, Rachel decided it was time to go all out and get a real producer with great players--essentially, DEPART to Nashville, and DEPART from the typical recording process. Some of the credits on this record include: Steve Mason (Jars of Clay), Tony Lucido (Matt Kearney, TobyMac, Starfield), Ben Shive (Dave Barnes, Steven Curtis Chapman), Paul Eckburg (Sara Groves, Michael Card), and Mitch Dane (JJ Heller, Jars of Clay, Jonny Diaz).

Currently, Rachel is the Worship Director at Gilroy Presbyterian Church in Gilroy, California. She also performs at House Concerts, prisons, retreats, and camps.
