Wow, tasty Mint!
author: Robert Warren
Like the herb for which it is named, Rachel Loshak's MINT is both potent and delicate, with elastic melodies that stretch effortlessly to the heavens then swoop back down, while a palpable undercurrent - of which her nimble bass playing is key - keeps things earthy and deep. With ace producion help from multi-instrumentalist Morgan Taylor and a stellar cast of musos, this 11 song collection weaves an entire world of it own. Although there are unexpected turns along the way into exotic modalities and noise, tough rock, and timeless minor-key waltzes, the return is always back to pure pop. Among other things, Loshak's songs tell of love, hope, eternity, wonder, and sin in a voice that is possesed of uncommon grace and power - instantly identifiable and able to draw the listener in even when literal meanings are not instantly grasped. MINT invites repeated listenings, depending on how much chill-bump-inducing beauty you want over the course of your day. I love this CD.

Lovely
author: Collected Sounds
Loshak's music is pop, but I almost hate to say that because I don't want you to think "Britney", it's not like that at all…at all. This is real pop, intelligent pop. Make you happy pop. The way it was intended.
Loshak is a bass player so I assumed that I'd be hearing bass-heavy songs but that's not the case here. The instruments are all balanced nicely as are the vocals.
I like "No Words" which is a beautiful ballad, and the opening track "Rain" it sets the stage for a lovely recording.
I only wish I could travel to Denmark to see Rachel Loshak live.
