ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
a modern day "lady of the canyon," rachel lives at the foot of the hill on which she grew up in legendary laurel canyon. songs from her debut solo e.p., produced by clark stiles(the dandy warhols, pink martini)can be heard on XM Sattellite Radio, the WB Show "High School Reunion"... also on KCRW Los Angeles 89.9FM... The song "Miracle" is featured in the film "Elvis Has Left the Building" starring Kim Basinger. "My Dog and Me" was used by Milk Bone for their Make-Your-Dog-Famous campaign. 3 songs from the e.p. are in the feature film "Cosmic Radio."

rachel robinson had had enough. so she started writing songs. "all my life i had kept a journal. journals are kind of a bummer because you get it all out, write it all down and then it just sits in the dark, waiting to get re-read in some nostalgic moment, only to get stuffed back on the dark and lonely bookshelf having accomplished nothing but poking at old wounds. songs are the ticket. you see, you write a song about what or who you think is the subject... then the song flies away and takes on a life of its own, it touches other people with connective truths you may have never intended, you can take liberties with songs, fictionalize these stories, exaggerate, lie, whatever... then it turns out that the 'subject' is actually only the 'object', and by exploring that object the subject, yes THE subject, is revealed. transformative stuff. and the ultimate playground. songs come from pain, songs come from joy, songs come from nowhere is the actual truth. the fact that they come at all is a f***ing miracle. i don't keep a journal anymore."

curtseies and sugarplums and jonesing
pretend you are in a fairy tale, and this will be your soundtrack. wounded love and dilusion I sort through my hearts addict when listening.

Less is More?
Eyes Stuck Open, think about the best song I've heard this year, really hope you get to record more material!

Relax and Reflect
The songs on this CD are very loose and very beautiful. Everyone can find their own truth in them.
