Album Notes

"My grandson loves Rachel's Lullabies Old & New. For the first time he sleeps well...they've worn it out from repeated playing." Mable Clair Young, Grandparent

Rachel's Lullabies Old & New is a Wolf Trap Silver Medallion Award winner. An award given to honor high artistic quality. This recording was Sumner's first recording for young people. It has been remastered and repackaged with new artwork.

The record contains a subliminal heartbeat (at resting rate or 60 beats per minute). This is buried in the music bed.

Award-winning children's entertainer, Rachel Sumner has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe and is well-known for her lively performances where audience participation is encouraged. Singing songs and telling stories that teach as well as entertain, she has gained fans young and old. Her music videos appear regularly on The Learning Channel's "Ready, Set, Learn" during "Short Stuff". She can also be heard on children's radio, satellite and airline programming around the world. Her recordings have met with rave reviews and have been honored with nine national awards, three finalist nominations and an international award given by a United Nations publication.

Rachel performs at festivals, museums, fairs, schools, libraries, corporate and special events. Her concerts teach words in different languages including sign language, promote self-esteem and stimulate kids' imaginations.

In addition to her concert performances, Rachel presents keynotes and workshops full of creative ideas, music and fun for educators, librarians, event organizers and parents. She inspires attendees as she instructs them on how to use music, movement, drama and incredibly fun props to help children learn. "The arts are a very powerful educational tool," she says. She is a trained Arts Integrated Specialist with the Tennessee Arts Commission. She also works as an artist in residence with various arts organizations and is a Master Artist with the highly acclaimed Wolf Trap Institute.

Her background in performing is extensive. She is a prolific writer, singer and actor who has sung in bands and orchestras, performed in children's theater and appeared in television and radio commercials.

Since moving to Nashville, she has written and released six audio recordings, a video of sign language and foreign language songs and a curriculum/songbook. The triple award-winning I've Got Imagination with its animated cover has been a favorite with reviewers. She has written a children's book Shapes With Squiggle Snake to teach young children shapes. Her most recent recording called Join the Parade, has been hailed as one of the best children's recordings of the year with its toe-tapping tunes and dynamic stories.
