John Foley's Radar Rangers first came together to record the songs John was using in his work as a music therapist and things just got out of hand. The songs drew on John's work with legendary folk singer Oscar Brand and on the years of rock&roll bands that came before. Bob and Lisa Hammerstein added drums, vocals and world-beat percussion and guest musicians brought more sounds to the mix. The songs are traditional and original, acoustic and electric, folk and rock. While they usually find themselves in the "family music" category, comparisons have been made to certifiable grownup bands like Fairport Convention and Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks.
About the songs: "Pigs" has lyrics by John and folk legend Oscar Brand set to a traditional fiddle tune, "Ain't Nobody Here" is the Louis Jordan swing standard, "The Ah-Mm Song" is the story of a boy who invents Doo-Wop and "Wonderful World" is the Louis Armstrong favorite. And there's more...
