Hi. My name is Joe McDermott and I*m the guitarist/ukulele(ist?) and songwriter for Radiola. You might remember me from my bands The Dharma Bums or Grains Of Faith in the late 80's and early 90's. Since the 90's I*ve been a composer of children*s music, multi-media and video game music, and continued to write *adult* music. I've been playing music for years with my good friend, Tom Thornton, who was in a band called The Wayouts. Tom and I had been playing acoustic coffee shop gigs together, but we both yearned for the full band experience. In the process of repeatedly hiring the string quartet, The Barton Strings for studio work, I became friends with first chair violinist Beth Blackerby. Beth turned me on to a genre called *Chamber Pop*. I became obsessed with composition, and needing piano, asked my long-time friend Kathy Brotherton to take piano and accordion duties. Album Notes

The music of Radiola is a genre-defying blend of World, Classical, Folk and Rock, held together by McDermott quirky-smart pop sensibilities. "Beth (violon) and Kathy (piano, accordion) have rigorous classical backgrounds so we really highlight their musicianship.
