Album Notes

Raghu Dixit’s music is a seamless amalgamation of Indian beats and sounds from around the world, befittingly labelling his music as Indo World Folk Rock. His powerful folksy vocals in Hindi, Kannada and English hit right between the eyes. Supported by the strum of an acoustic guitar interwoven with violin and flute, the melodies suddenly give way to a surprising pinch of blues and rock guitar, all lying comfortably in a blend of Western, Indian and Arabic grooves.

Raghu’s lyrics are simple yet intense, talking to the common man’s emotions and experiences, hence making his songs extremely popular. His songs Mysore Se Ayee, Mumbai, Antaragni, Hey Bhagawan, Har Saans Mein, Gudugudiya, Soruthihudu and many more, performed over nine years at numerous live performances have sent sedate listeners into throes of hysteria. Unrelenting crowds made Raghu encore Mysore Se Ayee, his most popular song, 3-4 times at a stretch in a concert!

Raghu Dixit recently released his debut self-titled album. Raghu is the first artist on Vishal & Shekhar Music and the album has been released in association with Counter Culture Records in February 2008.

First, thank you CD Baby for carrying this. I spent three-four times of album money on gas trying to find this in desi music stores in LA. As for the album, Raghu's voice is awesome and the music is great. When I first saw it on music sites I thought it was a devotional CD, but I am glad that I didn't judge it by the cover :) You will never get tired of it.
