Raghu Lokanathan is a songwriter living in British Columbia, Canada. He was born in India and grew up in Montreal, where he learned to play guitar and accordion. He began writing songs influenced by artists such as Woody Guthrie. Penguin Eggs Magazine described his 2004 release Caledonia as “… a charming, beguiling album of songs that don’t follow the usual patterns.” Doug Cox, artistic director of the Vancouver Island Music Festival called him “a huge talent”. He has played at coffeehouses, folk-clubs and festivals across Canada. His current interests include clawhammer banjo and writing upside-down.
