SPECIAL REVIEW:
Here is recent article by music columnist:
- Robert Kinsler, O.C. Register.
If local blues fans buy only one CD this summer, they should consider making it "Highway Bound", the latest disc from Steve Copeland and Raging Sun. The remarkable quintet explores a wide range of styles on the 14-track disc, reflecting the individual players' diverse background and how they blend those sonic influences as a band.
"The reason why all the songs are different is because they are all not written by the same person. Rock, swing, jump - they are a little bit of Terry, River and me," said lead singer and rhythm guitarist Steve Copeland. The band also features River Blue (harmonica), Terry "the Count" Medeiros (lead guitar), John Palmer (drums), and Larry Nannenga (bass).
Although the members live in Orange and Los Angeles counties, they originally hail from such far-flung locales as St. Louis, Massachusetts and Chicago. Medieros, a native of Hawaii ranks with Walter Trout and Rusty Anderson (Paul McCartney) as one of the top region's most talented and original electric guitar players. Copeland has a powerful voice and is equally at ease singing tender ballads and blistering blues rockers.
Indeed, songs such as the driving title track, the jumping "Blues, Blues, Blues" and the instrumental "Blues Riff" showcase the group's chops in spades.
"We're trying to get out there," River Blue said. "We are playing for approximately 80,000 people this summer" The band already has about 3,000 so-called "Sunseekers" (Raging Sun fans) on its mailing list and is gaining more at each appearance.
It is a combination of powerful performances, virtuoso musicianship and great songs that make Copeland and Raging Sun one of the region's top blues bands.

I've from Chicago and blues bands are everywhere, but this group has a unique comtemporary quality that stands out from the crowd. This is my second copy. When I first got my copy and played it for my friends they asked me to "borrow it" (that means I won't see it again). It's that good. So this is a reorder. This CD is as good as it gets, good songs and the players are outstanding. My highest recommendation but please, don't let your friends borrow it.

OK, my friend had 2 or your CD's in his car and I borrowed it for my trip to St. Louis. It was a long trip and I listened to both CD's from start to finish. I enjoyed the variety and raw vocals of Copeland. Sounded so good that I had to "borrow" his copies and need to return them back soon...so here is my order, send them to me quick. Cool stuff, put me on your list for the new "LIVE" CD. Over and out!
