Album Notes

Dream Arcade is a fantastic album. It's very much back to basics, but never sounds formulaic or cliche. In fact, it sounds very inspired. Some Railway Children fans may long for the slick production of Native Place, but Dream Arcade has its own resonance which makes it transcend previous RC albums. Gary Newby sounds more confident than ever as a vocalist, and he's backed up by a more supple rhythm section than from the original lineup. "Let it go" provides the perfect upbeat, rock-oriented opening track. It's the more acoustic-driven songs, however, that have the biggest impact, such as the title track "Dream arcade", "Wake the dreamer" and "These things she does".

Gary Newby reunites The Railway Children
author: Jeffrey Duerr
Good reunion of The Railway Children, with just Gary as the only original member and sounding somewhat different(Not a bad thing though). Could have been somewhat better though. My favorite tracks are Light The Fuse, What Tomorrow Brings and Come Around. New band sounds great. Hopefully TRC will release another studio album soon.

Railway Children strive and succeed
author: M.Willard
Dream Arcade combines the sparking pop magic of their first record with the more dramatic guitar force of their second to bring about a lush romantic sound. Gary Newbys' vocals still have a beautiful melancholy that are as determined as they are wistful.
