Album Notes

Then, of course, there's "I'm A Good Boy" (Track #8), which is more like The Shirelles meets American Pie...

Mostly it sounds like ... RainPace: five different musical backgrounds, coming together to make a cohesive sound that's more than the sum of its parts.

RainPace: Finally, music you can use.™

With:
Kerry Phillips (songwriter, guitars, keyboards, harmonica and vocals)
Mike Hunter (bass)
Mike Salas (drums)
Susan Stern (vocals)
Valerie Tullous (vocals, cabasa on Track 1)

Recorded at Northgate Studios
Mastered by Sound Bites Dog

Tracks:

1. DARK TRAIN
"Been livin' wrong, been livin' hard
And now I have to pay
Hear that rumblin' down the track?
That train is on its way
Gotta ride that Dark Train..."

2. ALWAYS AFTERGLOW
"You saved me from sinking
From those thoughts that I was thinking..."

3. DIRT ROAD
"Life gets betta
As soon as you can get a
Little further out from the city..."

4. LAZY DAY
"Ice tea, twilight time
Porch swing, fireflies..."

5. MISS LUCY NEEDS A BOYFRIEND
" 'Cause ev'rywhere she looks
There are reminders of the past..."

6. I WILL GO THERE
"Look at me! I am my own demographic!
I am very sexy, I have really good teeth...
Baby, won't you look at me?"

7. BOB
"Twice-told stories
Are the kind we seem to like a lot..."

8. I'M A GOOD BOY
"I never would, ever could lead a life of crime and sin
But I hot-wired that old Ford Escort
Faster than its little threadbare tires could spin..."

9. MUSKOGEE STOMP
"Juke 'n' juke 'n' juke, oh baby, ah, ah, ah, ah!
...Darlin', that's the way to do the Muskogee Stomp."

The CD is great, good harmonies and, as usual, Kerry Phillips has written some great songs! Funny "stories" that remind me of Sting's. Favs are Dirt Road and Dark Train. More, please?
